Video Games with A.I. as the “new character”

Small, Zachary. “The Unnerving Future of A.I.-Fueled Video Games.” Nytimes.com, The New York Times, 28 July 2025, https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/arts/video-games-artificial-intelligence.html

The New York times talks about Video Games being the future of A.I. Even with computer features being added into games since the beginning of creating video games, but advances in technology are seeing how far they can push this possibility.

This might interest readers because Computer programs in video games has been popular since video games started out as a concept. But what readers may not realize is that A.I. has always been used in video games. Even if this isn’t the case how will this “new A.I.” be used when playing video games in the future? I think this is interesting because reading about the history of A.I. being used in gaming has been used for a few decades, as I think readers will be fascinated by how much A.I. has been used when it comes to creating or playing video games.

Tech founder Kylan Gibbs, had this to say about trying to incorporate A.I. in video games; “Everybody is trying to race toward A.G.I.,” using an acronym for artificial generalized intelligence, which describes the turning point at which computers have the same cognitive abilities as humans. “There’s this belief that once you do, you’ll basically monopolize all other industries.”
