Tarasov, Katie. “Apple Takes Control of All Core Chips in iPhone Air with New Architecture to Prioritize AI.” CNBC, 21 Sept. 2025, www.cnbc.com/2025/09/21/apple-now-controls-all-core-iphone-chips-prioritizing-ai-workloads.html. Accessed 21 Sept. 2025.
This article speaks a lot about the different types of hardware that will be included within the new iPhones. An emphasis was brought up specifically with the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air as they will be created with A19 Pro, which is a GPU core to prioritize AI workloads. Apple spoke about how there’s an increase in pressure in regards to their AI strategy, and they said that they have a “new chip architecture that prioritizes workloads, adding neural accelerators to the GPU cores” (Tarasov 14).
Apple claims that a major reason as to why they want to increase their AI capability is due to wanting more privacy on iPhones. They also speak on how it’s “effective” and “responsive.” A new feature they have introduced is the following, “One “built-in AI” feature Millet highlighted is the new front camera that uses AI to detect a new face and automatically switches to taking a horizontal photo” (Tarasov 14). This part was the most interesting to me, as a lot of people are very obsessive over the quality of iPhone cameras.
