This article on CBC describes a mother’s account of an interaction that the Tesla AI Grok had with her 12-year old son. The boy was talking to it about soccer players when it suddenly asked him if he could send it naked pictures of himself. The mother now encourages all parents to not let their child use the chatbot. The rest of the article describes Grok and its history, along with the company’s explanations of what it was meant for.
I chose this article because the headline popped out to me, and the content interested me. I had heard of Grok before, but didn’t know anything about it, as I’m generally not interested in AI’s. After this article, I’m surprised and saddened to find that this robot actually got designed. I don’t think that “unhinged” Grok is funny, and it obviously says NSFW things without being unhinged, so I don’t think it should be an option on cars that whole families use.
