This article describes the famous director Guillermo Del Toro’s strong and unsurprising stance on AI: that he will never use it for as long as he lives. He compares the creation of it to the creation of Frankenstein’s monster, who he just made a movie about. He also says that AI isn’t really the problem, but the use of it is.

I chose this article because, as a creative like del Toro, I completely understand and admire his stance (although my opinion isn’t so strong that “I’d rather die”). He’s a director known for movies that employ practical effects and unique fantasy creature designs, and the introduction of AI, which can make mediocre versions of such things in seconds, this must be heartbreaking. I really like how he compared it to the story of Frankenstein, and how tech companies are pushing for these things without thinking about the ramifications.
