Brangham , William , and Maea Lenei Bu. “AI Content Supercharges Confusion and Spreads Misleading Information, Critics Warn.” PBS News, 22 Oct. 2025, www.pbs.org/newshour/show/ai-content-supercharges-confusion-and-spreads-misleading-information-critics-warn.
With generative AI being accessible to everyone, more misleading videos are being produced and spread across the internet. This leads to a large amount of misinformation being spread. William Brangham and Aidan Walker discuss the rise of these mid-leading videos, referring to them as ‘slop’. Examples include a false video of Barack Obama being arrested, lies about what the Trump administration is currently implementing (some AI videos are created by said administration). One of the biggest concerns is how apps like Meta are helping push ‘brainrot’ or ‘AI slop’ onto its users.
