In 2021, Gabriel Paul Horcasitas fatally shot Christoper Pelkey after a road rage incident. Although Horcasitas was already convicted of manslaughter in 2023, he was recently sentenced earlier this year, and received the maximum sentence.
However, due to the Pelkey family influence, there was a video used in court of Pelkey speaking to the jury. Since Pelkey unfortunately passed away in 2021, the entire portion of him ‘speaking’ directly to everyone in the room was fully AI-generated. Currently, the ethics behind AI being used in the courtroom in this manner is being discussed.
