“I Tried the First Humanoid Home Robot. It Got Weird. | WSJ”. Youtube, uploaded by The Wall Street Journal, 28 October 2025. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3c4mQty_so
Joanna Stern met and tried the 1X Neo humanoid robot, an AI robot build to help you with tasks in your home. Neo is build to have a more “human” look, while also being able to be powerful enough to do daily tasks, like loading and unloading the dishwasher, and lifting up to 150lbs. However, as we see, Neo is currently controlled remotely by a human.
In all honestly, I went into this video worrying of the advancement of AI to creating robots for the home. But, by the end, my worries were more turned into laughs of how Neo is currently– especially as he is still controlled by a human “pilot”. It does still have me worried for the future of this, with continued AI advancements, such as when Stern makes the comment that the future of AI robots is currently more about letting the robot learn with you, raising one, rather than you owning a robot. But, if I based this on the video alone, by Neo alone, I feel we are far from robots and AI taking over.
