“Sale of This AI Toy Suspended Over Dangerous Messages to Kids”. YouTube, uploaded by ABC News, 22 November 2025. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI-KBieN6jo
AI toy, Kumma Teddy, sales have been suspended as the toy was telling kids sexually explicit content and where to find/how to use dangerous objects, such as knives and matches. Research shows that toys using AI should be taken with caution, stating “you should avoid AI toys for now”, said by Danny Katz, executive director of the Colorado Public Interest Research Group. Governments are even trying to regulate the AI industry, or, as we have seen in the White House, prevent the regulation of AI in an attempt to promote AI growth.
Before this article, I had not heard of AI toys, like the Kumma Teddy. I knew AI played a major role in apps, various social media platforms, and general online sites, however, I did not know they started to incorporate AI in toys marketed to kids. Knowing that now and from seeing this article, on top of other articles and AI information I’ve learned through this class and outside information, I am worried about the sheer swiftness of adding AI into things such as kids toys. Especially when AI is still developing and ever-growing in knowledge from what we give it.
